What Is a VPN?

A VPN hides a user’s real IP address and location.

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a service that creates an encrypted connection to the internet. It routes a user’s traffic through a server in a location of their choice, hiding their real IP address and physical location.

Many people use VPNs for legitimate privacy reasons, but the same anonymity also makes them a powerful tool for fraudsters.

How to Block VPN Traffic with ClickSambo

ClickSambo lets you block this kind of anonymous traffic.

This protection is an optional rule and it is on by default.

To check or change VPN, Proxy and Tor blocking:

1. Go to Settings > Domain Settings > Manage Detection Rules.

2. Find the option labeled "Virtual Private Network (VPN) IP / Proxy / Tor Network Blocking".

3. Make sure the toggle is ON. To turn the rule off, click the toggle.

While it is on, our system uses an up-to-date database to identify and block visitors who hide their identity behind these anonymizing services.

Note: Some businesses have legitimate users who visit their site through a corporate VPN. If that applies to you, you can turn this rule off; otherwise, we recommend keeping it on for stronger protection against location- and identity-based fraud.
