This FAQ explains what a VPN is, how it's used for click fraud, and how you can enable protection against it in your ClickSambo settings.
While many people use VPNs for legitimate privacy reasons, this same anonymity makes them a powerful tool for fraudsters.
| Bypass Location Targeting | Make clicks appear as though they are coming from a high-value country you are targeting. |
| Hide Their Identity | Constantly switch IP addresses to evade simple blocks and appear as many different "unique" visitors. |
This protection is an optional rule that you can enable directly in your account settings.
To activate VPN, Proxy, and Tor blocking:
Navigate to your Manage Detection Rules settings page.
Locate the option labeled "Virtual Private Network (VPN) IP / Proxy/Tor Network Blocking".
Click the toggle switch to turn this feature ON.
Once enabled, our system will use its up-to-date database to identify and block visitors using these anonymizing services to hide their identity.
This option is off by default to give you maximum control. While blocking VPNs is highly effective against fraud, some businesses may have legitimate users who access their site via a corporate VPN. We recommend enabling this rule for the most robust protection against location and identity-based fraud.
