You can use ClickSambo for click fraud protection alongside Triple Whale for e-commerce analytics. The two tools serve different purposes: ClickSambo protects your ad spend from invalid clicks, while Triple Whale measures your customer journey and attribution. This guide shows how to set them up in Google Ads without conflicts.
Triple Whale's automatic Google tracking adds its parameters to the Tracking template field at campaign and ad group level. Templates at those levels override the account-level template, which is where ClickSambo sets its template. If this happens, your clicks skip ClickSambo. See how lower-level templates override account-level templates.
Simple rule: keep the ClickSambo template in the Tracking template field and put Triple Whale's parameters in the Final URL suffix.
Step 1: Check the ClickSambo tracking template
When you connect Google Ads, ClickSambo sets its template at account level if the account has no template yet. If you already had one, merge it with ClickSambo: see What If I Already Have a Tracking Template in Google Ads?
Step 2: Add Triple Whale's parameters to the Final URL suffix
In Google Ads, go to Admin > Account settings > Tracking.
In the Final URL suffix field, paste the Triple Whale parameters without {lpurl}?, for example:
tw_source=google&tw_adid={creative}&tw_campaign={campaignid}Use the exact parameters shown in your Triple Whale tracking settings, then click Save.
Step 3: Check templates that Triple Whale already set
If you activated Triple Whale's automatic Google tracking, it may have written templates to your campaigns or ad groups. Either remove those templates and rely on the Final URL suffix, or merge the ClickSambo template into each of them. Also turn off Triple Whale's auto-update option, so new campaigns don't get their own templates.
Step 4: Install the website codes
Make sure the ClickSambo HEAD and BODY codes (Install Tracking Codes) and the Triple Whale pixel are installed on your website.
Step 5: Test the setup
In Google Ads, use the Test button next to the tracking template to check for errors.
Once new ad traffic arrives, confirm that clicks appear in your ClickSambo dashboard and visits appear in Triple Whale.
Tracking template: contains the ClickSambo template (merged with your own template if you use one).
Final URL suffix: contains the Triple Whale parameters.
Campaign and ad group templates: removed, or merged with the ClickSambo template.
Website: the ClickSambo codes and the Triple Whale pixel are installed.
