Tracking Code Setup for Multiple Ad Accounts Using GTM

Updated Date:

Tracking Multiple Google Ads Accounts on One Website

This guide is for users who manage multiple Google Ads accounts that all send traffic to the same website.

The setup has two main parts: a one-time website code installation that monitors all traffic, and a per-account connection in ClickSambo that tells us which Google Ads account the traffic comes from. A final checklist helps you confirm everything works.

Part 1: Set Up Your Website Codes (One-Time Setup)

First, install both ClickSambo tracking codes on your website. With Google Tag Manager (GTM), this is a one-time setup for the whole site.

Install the main tracking code via GTM: Follow our guide, How to install ClickSambo with Google Tag Manager, to add the tracking code (HEAD section) to your site. Make sure the trigger is set to Initialization – All Pages.

Install the NoScript fallback code directly: As explained in the GTM guide, the NoScript code (BODY section) must be added directly to your website’s template (e.g., header.php or theme.liquid) right after the opening <body> tag, so visitors with JavaScript disabled are covered too.

Once both codes are on your site, the website part is done. You don’t need to repeat it for each ad account.

Part 2: Connect Each Google Ads Account Individually

Next, connect each Google Ads account you want to protect to your ClickSambo account.

This lets our system apply the tracking template and analyze traffic from each account.

  1. Log in to ClickSambo and go to Account Settings > Connections.

  2. Click the Connect button for Google Ads.

  3. Complete the Google sign-in and, when prompted, select the first Google Ads account you want to protect.

  4. Finish the connection. ClickSambo automatically applies its tracking template and turns on auto-tagging for that account.

  5. Repeat these steps for your second, third (and so on) Google Ads account until all of them show as "Connected."

Part 3: Final Verification Checklist

After setup, verify that each part of the system is configured correctly.

✅ Check 1: Your website

Use "View Page Source" on your live website to confirm that both the HEAD code (cdn.clicksambo.com) and the BODY code (ping.clicksambo.com) are present.

✅ Check 2: Your ClickSambo account

Under Account Settings > Connections, confirm that all your Google Ads accounts are listed as "Connected."

✅ Check 3: Each Google Ads account

Log in to each Google Ads account and check two settings under Admin > Account settings:

  • Tracking: the "Tracking template" field contains the ClickSambo URL.

  • Auto-tagging: it is turned on (set to "Yes").

Once all checks are complete, ClickSambo is tracking and protecting traffic from all your connected Google Ads accounts.
