Tracking Multiple Google Ads Accounts on One Website

This guide is for users who manage multiple Google Ads accounts that all send traffic to the same website.

The setup is straightforward and involves two main parts: a one-time website code installation to monitor all traffic, and a per-account setup within Google Ads to differentiate where that traffic is coming from.

Part 1: Set Up Your Website Codes (One-Time Setup)

First, you need to install both ClickSambo tracking codes on your website. Since you are using Google Tag Manager (GTM), this is a one-time setup for the entire site.

  1. Install the Main Tracking Code via GTM: Follow our dedicated guide, How to Install ClickSambo with Google Tag Manager, to add the Tracking Code (HEAD Section) to your site. Ensure the trigger is set to Initialization - All Pages.
  2. Install the NoScript Fallback Code Directly: As outlined in the GTM guide, the NoScript Tracking Code (BODY Section) must be installed directly into your website's code template (e.g., your header.php or theme.liquid file) immediately after the opening <body> tag. This ensures 100% tracking coverage.

Once both codes are on your site, the website portion of the setup is complete. You do not need to repeat this for each ad account.

Part 2: Connect Each Google Ads Account Individually

You must now connect each Google Ads account that you want to protect to your ClickSambo account.

This allows our system to apply the necessary tracking template and analyze the traffic from each specific account.

The Recommended Method: Automatic Connection

  1. Log in to your ClickSambo account and navigate to Account Settings > Connections.
  2. Click the Connect button for Google Ads.
  3. Proceed through the Google authentication process. When prompted, select the first Google Ads account you wish to protect.
  4. Finalize the connection. Our system will automatically apply ClickSambo's Google Ads Tracking Template to that specific account.
  5. Repeat this process: Return to the Connections page in ClickSambo, click "Connect" again, and repeat the authentication and selection process for your second, third, (and so on) Google Ads account, until all desired accounts are listed as "Connected."

Part 3: Final Verification Checklist

After setup, verify that each part of the system is configured correctly.

✅ Check #1: Your Website

  • Use "View Page Source" on your live website to confirm that both the HEAD code (cdn.clicksambo.com) and the BODY code (ping.clicksambo.com) are present.

✅ Check #2: Your ClickSambo Account

  • In your ClickSambo dashboard under Account Settings > Connections, verify that all of your desired Google Ads accounts are listed as "Connected."

✅ Check #3: EACH Google Ads Account

  • Log in to each of your Google Ads accounts individually and verify the following two settings:
    1. Go to Settings > Account Settings > Tracking and confirm the "Tracking template" field is populated with the ClickSambo URL.
    2. Go to Settings > Account Settings > Auto-tagging and confirm that it is enabled (set to "Yes").

Once all checks are complete, ClickSambo will be accurately tracking and protecting traffic from all your connected Google Ads accounts.
