How to use ClickSambo if you're already using TripleWhale

Using ClickSambo with TripleWhale

You can absolutely use ClickSambo for click fraud prevention alongside TripleWhale for e-commerce analytics.

The two tools serve different, complementary purposes: ClickSambo protects your ad spend from fraud, while TripleWhale helps you understand your customer journey and attribution.

This guide provides the recommended setup to ensure both platforms work together perfectly in Google Ads without conflict.

The Golden Rule: Separate Fields for Separate Jobs

The key to a successful integration is to use Google Ads' two different URL parameter fields for their intended purposes:

Tracking Template: This field is for redirect-based trackers like ClickSambo that must analyze a click before the user lands on your site.

Final URL Suffix: This field is for parameters that need to be attached directly to your final landing page URL for analytics tools like TripleWhale.

Keeping them separate is the safest and most reliable way to prevent tracking conflicts.

Step-by-Step Integration Guide

Prerequisite: Before you begin, ensure you have your TripleWhale tracking parameters ready. They are typically found in your TripleWhale dashboard under "Settings" > "Tracking".

Step 1: Set Up the ClickSambo Tracking Template

First, ensure ClickSambo's tracking is correctly placed.

Automatic Setup (Recommended): Follow our standard guide to connect your Google Ads account. Our system will automatically populate the Tracking Template field for you with ClickSambo's Google Ads Tracking Template.

Manual Setup: If using the manual option, paste your full ClickSambo's Google Ads Tracking Template into the Tracking Template field in your Google Ads account settings.

Step 2: Add TripleWhale's Parameters to the Final URL Suffix

In your Google Ads account, navigate to Settings > Account Settings > Tracking.

Find the Final URL Suffix field.

Paste the entire tracking parameter string provided by TripleWhale into this box. It will typically be a long string that starts with utm_source=triplewhale&....

Click Save.

Step 3: Check Your TripleWhale Settings (Critical Step)

You must ensure that TripleWhale does not automatically override your ClickSambo setup.

Warning: Log in to your TripleWhale account and go to its Google Ads integration settings. You must find and disable any feature that automatically manages or overwrites the Tracking Template in Google Ads. If this setting is left on, TripleWhale may erase your ClickSambo template daily. TripleWhale should only be managing the Final URL Suffix.

Step 4: Install All Website Codes

Ensure that the tracking codes for both services are correctly installed on your website (e.g., in your Shopify theme). This includes ClickSambo's Tracking Code (HEAD Section) and NoScript Tracking Code (BODY Section), as well as TripleWhale's pixel.

Step 5: Test the Integration Thoroughly

In Google Ads, use the "Test" button next to your Tracking Template to check for immediate errors.

Perform a live end-to-end test using Google's Ad Preview and Diagnosis tool.

After your test click, verify that:

The click data appears correctly in your ClickSambo dashboard.

The visit and attribution data appear correctly in your TripleWhale dashboard.

Summary of a Correct Setup

Tracking Template: Contains only ClickSambo's Google Ads Tracking Template.

Final URL Suffix: Contains only the TripleWhale parameters.

TripleWhale Settings: The feature to auto-update the tracking template is disabled.

Your Website: All codes from both ClickSambo and TripleWhale are installed.
