Before you open the tool, you need to know what you are looking for.
Low-Intent (Informational): Users looking for answers, not products.
Example: "Why does my back hurt?" or "iPhone 15 specs."
Result: They click, read, and leave.
High-Intent (Transactional): Users ready to spend money now.
Example: "Emergency chiropractor near me" or "Buy iPhone 15 Pro best price."
Result: They click and buy.
Your goal with Keyword Planner isn't just to find volume (lots of searches); it's to find value.
Go to Tools & Settings > Planning > Keyword Planner.
Select "Discover new keywords."
Enter 3-5 broad terms describing your business (e.g., "moving service," "movers," "relocation").
Click Get Results.
The Filter Trick: To instantly strip away the "window shoppers," use the Add Filter button above the table:
Filter by Keyword text contains: "buy", "price", "cost", "near me", "service", "hire".
This removes general questions and leaves you with commercial queries.
New advertisers look at "Avg. Monthly Searches." Smart advertisers look at "Top of page bid (high range)."
This column tells you what other competitors are willing to pay for a click.
If a keyword has 10,000 searches but a bid of $0.05, it likely converts poorly (Low Intent).
If a keyword has only 100 searches but a bid of $15.00, it means that keyword generates sales.
Pro Strategy: Sort the table by "Top of page bid (high range)" descending.
High-intent keywords are the "Crown Jewels" of your campaign. They bring the sales, but they also have the highest Cost Per Click (CPC).
The Risk: If you are bidding $15 per click on "Emergency Plumber," just 4 fake clicks from a competitor will cost you $60. High-CPC keywords are the primary target for click fraud because competitors know they can drain your budget faster.
ClickSambo Solution: Always prioritize fraud protection on your "High Intent" campaigns. Using ClickSambo allows you to bid aggressively on these expensive terms without fear of burning budget on bots.
