How to Remove the ClickSambo Tracking Template from Google Ads

Before you begin, you need to know where the tracking template was applied in your Google Ads account. It can be at the Account, Campaign, Ad Group, or even Keyword level. The Account level is the most common.

Step 1: Navigate to the Correct Location

Sign In: Log in to your Google Ads account.

Navigate: Go to the appropriate section for the level you need to edit.

For the Account level (most common): Go to Settings > Account settings.

For the Campaign level: Select a specific campaign from the navigation menu, then click on Settings.

For Ad Group or Keyword: Navigate to the specific item within its campaign.

Find URL Options: Locate and expand the URL options section to find the "Tracking template" field.

Step 2: Choose the Correct Removal Method

There are two scenarios for removing the template. It is crucial to follow the correct one.

Scenario A: You are ONLY using the ClickSambo template

If the tracking template field contains only the ClickSambo URL, you can safely delete the entire contents of the field.

Before: https://track.clicksambo.com/track?key=12345...

After: (This field should be empty)

Scenario B: You MERGED ClickSambo's template with your own

This requires careful editing. You must only remove the ClickSambo "wrapper" and leave your original tracking template intact.

Your merged template consists of the ClickSambo URL followed by &target_url= and then your original template. You need to delete the ClickSambo part and keep everything that comes after &target_url=.

Before (Merged Template): https://track.clicksambo.com/track?key=12345&...&target_url={lpurl}?source=google&id={campaignid}

After (Your Original Template Remains): {lpurl}?source=google&id={campaignid}

Step 3: Save Your Changes

After editing the field, click the Save button.

Once saved, ClickSambo will no longer receive click data from that specific entity. Remember to repeat the process for any other levels where the template might have been applied.
