Testing if ClickSambo Is Tracking Clicks

After you have installed the website tracking codes and connected your Google Ads account, this final end-to-end test will confirm that ClickSambo is successfully receiving data from your live ad clicks.

The best way to do this is with Google's Ad Preview and Diagnosis tool. This allows you to safely test your ads without costing you money or affecting your campaign's performance statistics.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, please ensure you have completed the following:

✅ The ClickSambo tracking codes (HEAD and BODY) are installed correctly on your website.

✅ Your Google Ads account shows a "Connected" status in your ClickSambo dashboard.

✅ Your Google Ads campaigns are active and eligible to be shown.

Step-by-Step Testing Guide

Step 1: Open the Ad Preview Tool

Log in to your Google Ads account.

Click the Tools and settings icon (a wrench 🔧) in the top menu.

Under the "Planning" column, select Ad Preview and Diagnosis.

Step 2: Find Your Ad

In the "Enter a search term" box, type one of the keywords from a campaign you want to test.

Set the Location, Language, and Device to match your campaign's targeting.

The tool will show you a preview of the Google search results for your query. Find your ad in these results.

Step 3: Click Your Ad from the Preview

Once you locate your ad, click on its blue headline, just as a real customer would.

You will be redirected through the tracking system and will land on your website's landing page.

Step 4: Check for the Click in ClickSambo

Wait one or two minutes for the click data to be processed and sent to our system.

Log in to your ClickSambo account and navigate to the "Visits" or "Clicks" log.

Step 5: Verify the Click Details

Look at the most recent entry at the top of the log. It should correspond to the test click you just performed.

Verify the following details to confirm it's your test click:

IP Address: It should match your current IP address.

Timestamp: It should be from the last few minutes.

Campaign & Keyword: It should match the campaign and keyword you just tested.

User-Agent: It should show the browser you are currently using.

What's Next?

If you see your test click with the correct details, your end-to-end tracking is set up perfectly! No further action is needed.

If you do not see your click after several minutes, please review our guides on verifying your tracking code installation and ensuring your Google Ads account is connected properly. If you still have issues, please contact our support team.

Important Reminder: Always use the Ad Preview tool for testing. Repeatedly clicking your own ads from a live Google search can waste your budget and negatively impact your ad performance data.
