Connecting your Google Ads account is like giving a highly specialized security guard the necessary permissions to protect your business. To do their job effectively, they need to see who is arriving from your ads (read data) and have the authority to block threats (update exclusion lists).
This secure access is granted via the official Google Ads API using Google's own ultra-secure OAuth 2.0 protocol. It's the safest and most modern way for applications to interact.
This connection enables two core functions that are essential for protecting your ad spend:
What we do: Our system securely retrieves essential performance data for each click, such as the campaign ID, ad group, and the Google Click ID (GCLID
).
Why it's necessary: This allows us to match the initial ad click data with the on-site behavioral data gathered by our tracking code. Having this complete picture is crucial for accurately identifying fraudulent patterns that would otherwise be invisible.
What we do: When our system identifies a fraudulent source, it uses the API to instantly add that source's IP address to your account's "IP exclusion" list.
Why it's necessary: This is the action that actively protects your budget. This automated, real-time blocking prevents identified bots and other malicious actors from seeing and clicking your ads again, stopping fraud before it accumulates.
No Password Sharing: Because we use OAuth 2.0, you log in directly with Google. Your password is never shared with us or stored on our servers.
Limited Scope: Our permissions are strictly limited to what's necessary for fraud detection. We cannot change your ad copy, adjust your budgets, or access your billing information.
You're Always in Control: You can review and revoke our access at any time from your Google Account's security settings.
