What Happens When an IP Address or IP Range Is Blocked in Google Ads?

03/06/2025

Q: When ClickSambo blocks an IP address or IP range in Google Ads, what is the immediate effect on my campaigns?

A: When ClickSambo identifies and blocks an IP address or an IP range due to suspicious activity, the following actions and effects occur within your Google Ads account:

When ClickSambo blocks an IP address or an IP range, it's immediately added to the IP exclusion list in your relevant Google Ads campaigns. 🚫 This action prevents your ads from being shown to users originating from these addresses, effectively stopping invalid traffic.

Immediate Effects on Your Campaigns

No Ad Visibility: Users on the blocked IP address or within the blocked IP range will not see your ads. This applies to both search results and the Google Display Network.

No Charges for Impressions or Clicks: You will not be charged for any ad impressions or clicks from these blocked IPs. This protects your ad budget from fraudulent or unwanted interactions.

IP Exclusion List: The blocked IPs are automatically added to the IP exclusion list of your Google Ads campaigns.

New IP Range Blocking Rules

ClickSambo now also blocks entire IP ranges based on the following rules:

If any click fraud is detected within an IP range in the last 24 hours, the entire range is blocked to prevent further invalid activity.

If a third IP range, with no prior fraud, is found within the same 24-hour window as a fraudulent one, that new range is also blocked as a preventative measure.
